Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow (Proverbs 13:11). My mother explained how to save, she said, “if I was paid a £1, I would save a penny. There is no excuse for not saving”.
I haven’t always taken mum’s advice but more than once, I have thought, why didn’t I save more!!
Making your money grow is essentially about the wisdom in controlling your urge to spend. Spending is the issue, and many of us are addicted to spending. Our very self worth is tied up in our ability to keep on spending.
However saving makes money grow.
Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is this: Wisdom preserves those who have it (Ecclesiastes 7:12)
Money without knowledge and wisdom is guaranteed to achieve the opposite of growth. God is interested in us growing, however you and I are free to exercise freewill in our saving and spending.
Do not allow others to influence your decisions re how to save and how much to save. Growing your money does not mean you love money more than yourself or God. It simply means you are able to apply wisdom.
