On the Fifth Day a particular species of animal was created and whether God intended this or that species made a decision to be the way they are; – these animals seem to have a special affinity with humans – dogs.

My first dog was a collie and guess what I called her? Lassie…now you know the generation I was born into. Lassie and I were close, I mean really close. When I looked into her eyes I believe I saw understanding.

She could sense when I needed a hug; when she should give me distance; instinctively knew when danger was present, she would stand in from of me; where do dogs get thisbintekligence from?

And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: the livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. Genesis 1:24-25

One day Lassie fell ill, she literally dragged herself to see me then left. At her small funeral – my father, sister and me. I was a teenage boy, I cried and sat at her graveside until dark.

How can such a bond between a human and an animal be possible?
