On my first trip to the Caribbean I recall listening to excited discussions about flying fish season. Not having any context, I got excited and wanted to know where I could go to see fish fly.
And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.” So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living thing with which the water teems and that moves about in it, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” Genesis 1:20-22
In the plethora of fish species deemed unusual, is one which is in a class of its own. It has wings and literally flies above water – it’s called the flying fish.
My evolutionist friend gave me a (made up) reason why fish grew wings and started flying – to escape predators. My obvious question was, why didn’t all fish species grow wings?
I get why some people struggle with the idea of a God simply declaring “let there be” and there was. Conversely I struggle with “million and millions of years”. My repeat question; why does everything appear complete (good) now?
