Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them (James 4:13-17)
James is explaining something many would prefer not think about – getting todays actions out of the way today. I suppose it’s easier to always think about tomorrow and talk about the future in a manner that suggests the future is ours to determine.
When you continuously take action today, you are continuously laying the foundation for tomorrow. There’s no magic formula – the decisions you make today give birth to consequences tomorrow.
How did you spend today? Did you get all today’s actions cleared out today.
For the men who are married, you understand when wifie wants things done, and for the benefit of the single men…it’s not tomorrow.
